    Australian Visa Document Checklists

Prepare your application with confidence. Each checklist shows the documents commonly required and flags which ones may need a NAATI-certified English translation.

How to work through a checklist

A checklist is a preparation tool for an application you have already chosen. It lists the documents a case officer expects to see, marks which ones must be translated by a NAATI-certified translator before they are uploaded, and notes where the original itself has to be requested from an overseas registry rather than copied from a file you already hold.

Order matters more than most applicants expect. Documents that have to be issued abroad — police certificates, registry extracts, notarial copies — should be requested first because they set the timeline; translation is fast by comparison and is normally returned within 24 hours. Identity documents should be translated as a set so that names, dates and places are rendered identically across every file, since inconsistency between documents is a common trigger for a request for further information.

If you are not yet sure which subclass applies to you, start from the visa categories index instead and come back here once the subclass is settled.
