The Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485) allows recent international graduates of Australian institutions to live, work and study in Australia for a period after their studies. Certified translations are commonly requested for identity and supporting documents.
Graduate visas allow international students who have completed a qualification at an Australian institution to remain in Australia to live and work for a period after their studies. The primary graduate visa is the Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485). The Subclass 485 has two streams: the Post-Higher Education Work stream (for bachelor, honours, masters, and doctoral graduates) and the Graduate Research stream (for masters by research and doctoral graduates).
Visa length ranges from 2 to 4 years depending on the level of qualification and whether the degree was studied in a regional area. Applicants must apply within 6 months of completing their principal course, must have studied in Australia for at least 16 months, and must hold competent English.
Documents commonly requiring certified translation include police clearance certificates from countries where the applicant lived for 12 months or more since age 16, and any prior overseas qualifications submitted in support of the application.
