Swiss criminal-record extract (Strafregisterauszug)
Swiss Strafregisterauszug Translation for Australia
Switzerland issues a standard private extract and a special private extract, and either may be printed in German, French or Italian with English as an additional language. This page helps you identify which extract you hold and what still needs translating. To order, go to Start your order.
Private extract or special private extract?
The Federal Office of Justice's e-service information distinguishes the standard private extract from the special private extract, which concerns specified activity and contact bans and is used for a particular purpose. Its guidance also explains that the extract's main language is German, French or Italian, that English can be added as an additional language, and that where convictions are recorded the additional language applies to the headings rather than to the conviction content. - Read the title on your extract: the special private extract exists for a specific purpose and is not a general substitute
- Note the main language of your extract — German, French or Italian — because that determines the translation service you need
- English headings do not mean the recorded conviction content has been translated
- Digital download windows and online verification periods are handling limits, not an expiry date for the certificate itself
- The Federal Office of Justice is the official ordering route; we supply translation, not issuance
- Ask the Australian organisation receiving your documents which extract it wants
