Is an affidavit as strong as a government certificate?

No, and it is important to be clear about that. An affidavit is a sworn statement by an individual. It supports a civil record; it does not replace one. Where a registrar can issue the underlying certificate, obtain it.

Do you translate the gazette notification too?

Yes. Name-change files usually pair the affidavit with a state or Gazette of India notification and a newspaper advertisement, and all three are translated as a set.

What if the affidavit is handwritten?

Handwritten affidavits are translated. Where a word is genuinely illegible we mark it rather than guess, and we will ask you for a clearer scan first.

$59 per page. Most affidavits are one to two pages including the stamp paper.

Can you deliver to my migration agent?

Yes, directly to your agent's inbox.

Why the stamp paper and the notary block are part of the document

An Indian affidavit derives its standing from how it was executed: the denomination of the stamp paper, the vendor's serial number, the deponent's declaration, and the notary's or magistrate's register entry and seal. A translation that renders only the body text leaves an Australian officer unable to see whether the document was properly sworn.

One-and-the-same-person affidavits reconciling name variants across records
Name-change affidavits supporting a gazette notification
Date-of-birth affidavits supporting a Non-Availability of Birth Certificate
Affidavits of financial support for student and visitor visa applicants
Gap-in-study and employment-gap declarations for subclass 500 applications
Joint family and relationship declarations supporting family visa claims
